Pipe Railing for Boat Ramp Access Point
Surrounding water access points with the proper railing is a requirement for safe access. The DEC of NY chose to use Kee Klamp pipe railing fittings to build a railing around their boat ramp access point at Hi Tor. Kee Klamp fittings are made of galvanized steel, making them resistant to corrosion. Because the fittings are mechanically fastened to the pipe the galvanization is left intact. Compared to welded railing, a fittings based railing can last up to seven times longer in moisture rich environments such as this one.
Fittings based pipe railing is very easy to construct. Just about any "mechanically inclined" individual can put together the fittings and pipe. The fittings fasten onto the pipe with a simple set screw. The base flanges are fastened down to the ground structure with the appropriate fastener.
