It's a highly unique product limited only by ones imagination. And our customers are in no shortage of imagination or creativity. Our customers continue to surprise use with unique structures and visually stunning builds. This railing put together by one of our recent customers is by far no exception.
Hank, the proud owner of this beautiful railing and home, came to us to help him with the remodel of his staircase. He was looking for a railing that would be easy to work with and match the look he was going for in his home. To start off, he was looking to replace the railing at the top of the staircase and add railing to accompany the steps. Hank was originally going to use another type of galvanized pipe before he stumbled across Simplified Building. Hank was extremely relieved as Kee Klamp was exactly what he was looking for.
He already had a design in mind and that's when he contacted us to work through it to come up with the perfect solution for his home. Hank did a superb job of describing in detail what he was looking for, going as far as coming up with sketches to help illustrate his idea...
"The railing set-up I want will start at the first step above the middle landing and go to the upper landing/2d floor and be mounted to the sub floor. From that point, it will make a 90 degree right turn (viewed as climbing stairs) and connect to the wall. The first run of steps from 1st floor to middle landing will have no railing. On the 2d run of steps from mid landing to top landing, The first post will be mounted to the first step above the mid landing as seen in my drawing. I want a top rail and a middle rail. On the run from the middle post at top of stairs to the wall I want a top middle and lower rail (3 total) Materials: Key Lite Aluminum fittings and pipe. Size: Your size 8 (1.900 OD) The wood steps are solid white Oak milled around 1900 and used to build the Meadow River Saw Mill in North Carolina. It is extremely hard so structure/mounting will be no problem. I apologize for my poor drawing skills but I think they help convey my ideas. Attached you will find pictures and my two drawings.
Please disregard the notes on the first drawing as I was originally planning to use galvanized pipe until I found your company. Thank God!!! Your product is EXACTLY what I wanted. "
I don't know what Hank is talking about, I think his sketches look great! They worked perfectly for us. We took his idea and ran with it eventually coming to final solution resulting in the end product that you see today. This fantastic modern railing in a rustic room. It's an interesting mix that adds the best elements of contemporary design such as simplicity and sleekness to the homey, welcoming feeling of a rustic home. In other words, the entire room, railing included, look awesome! Hank did a superb job!
