How To Upgrade Your Sporting Goods Retail Clothing Racks

Sporting Goods Store Clothing Racks and Shelves

Don’t let your sporting goods store feel like a thrift shop. Having a hodge-podge collection of clothing racks and shelves is unappealing and does not inspire confidence.

If you’re anything like me, then when you choose to buy something from a store, you want your purchase to be supported. You want to know that the store stands behind what you buy.

If the store looks cheap or slapped together, then you won’t feel confident in making a purchase there.

So, what do you do?

Choose a racking and shelving system that will align with the brand you’re aiming for. In this article, I’m going to show how using pipe and fittings can help you achieve this.

Why You Should Use Pipe and Fittings for Your Sporting Goods Displays

Retail Store Clothing Racks and Helmet Racks

The industrial pipe look has been a common trend in stores and boutiques. Here’s what it can do for you.

A Consistent and Pleasing Retail Rack Look

If it works for stores like Urban Outfitters, it can work for you. Just walk into one of these fashion and creative-focused stores and see how they use pipe to display their clothes.

Pipe and fittings can create clothing racks, shelving units, tables, fitness equipment, and other creative expressions you want to represent your brand. This will give you a consistent look across all of your displays. No more tables from IKEA, shelves from a store that went out of business, and clothing racks that you picked up from Amazon.

A Sporting Goods Fixture as Durable as Your Customer

Steel sporting goods fixtures, like racks and shelves, need to be able to support the weight of the gear that you’ll put on them. This could be pads, weights, heavy clothing, or any number of other things.

You don’t want a customer to place something back on the rack and have it collapse right in front of them. First, that puts your customer at risk of harm. Then, it damages your store and potentially your product. Finally, it leaves a lasting impression on that customer...and any other customer that witnessed the accident.

Customize the Sporting Goods Displays to Fit Your Space

It really sucks when you have a clothing rack that just doesn’t fit in the one space you know would be perfect for it. You feel forced to set it an angle so that it kind of “fits”, but you hate how it looks. All of this despite how meticulously you measured your space.

That’s the problem with fixed clothing racks and shelving systems. When you use pipe and fittings, the racks and shelves are designed to fit your space. If measurements don’t line up or something had to change at the last minute (which always seems to happen), then you can modify your fixtures on-site to meet the change.

How much stress can you feel leaving your body when you know that changes to your layout or miscalculated measurements aren’t an issue?

We haven’t even gotten to how your imagination can be set loose with pipe and fittings. Not every space is rectangle and perfectly placed with 90-degree corners. Don’t worry, our clothing racks and shelves don’t need 90-degree corners to provide a consistent and strong fixture for your store.

Sporting Goods Clothing Racks and Shelves Options

Okay...you’re convinced (or at least a lot more curious) about clothing racks and shelves made from pipe and fittings. Now it’s time to show you some examples.

Use these ideas to inspire your own creativity. Think big. How would you use or modify these ideas to fit your brand?

Clothing Rack and Shelf Wall Mounted Combination

This is a common application that a lot of our customers use. Mounting to the wall and to the ground gives stability. You can add shelves or horizontal hanging racks. As you can see, the customer above chose two shelves and a single rack. You could use two racks, four shelves, or some other combination.

Our customer also used simple, wall-mounted faceout racks to add more display space for clothing. Would you change the design? Or do you want the same layout shown above? Let us know!

Column Rack Frame for Displays

Sometimes you have a column in a very unhelpful location, and you don’t want to, or may not be able to, drill into it.

Our customer wanted a frame that could surround the column, be sturdy, and allow them to install a wooden display rack on it. This was possible with pipe and fittings and be customized to fit the size of your column.

Sporting Goods Shoe Rack Display

Here is one of many ways that you can use to display the shoes your customers need to help meet their fitness goals. No more worry about hooks getting unclipped when someone picks up your display sneaker.

This design uses a simple post, a handful of fittings and some bolts. It’s simple, sturdy, and the heights can be adjusted to meet the size of your shoes.
