Ralph Lauren Clothing Storage Racks

When you're one of the most iconic fashion brands in the world, even your storage solutions need to be stylish and functional.

So, when contractors working with Ralph Lauren needed to outfit a new location’s backroom with durable clothing racks, they came to Simplified Building with a clear goal: replicate an existing rack system, but make it stronger, more flexible, and easier to install. 

Designing Industrial Clothing Racks

Now, we’ll admit that this isn’t our first rodeo with creating a custom storage clothing rack for Ralph Lauren. 

A little over a year ago, we assisted their install team with a custom clothing rack for the backroom storage at a different location in NYC.

So, when it came time for them to begin work on this new location, Simplified Building was at the top of their listfor helping with the new design. 

The installation team connected with our project specialist, Nate, who had previously worked with themon a job for Ralph Lauren.

They came to Nate with the problem, sketches, and a goal, the three keys to a successful project start.

The problem they had was that they needed to recreate an existing system that was made from a cheaper material in a very difficult shape.

The sketches they provided gave a clear plan for what they were looking for, including measurements and types of materials they required for the project.

The goal was to have an industrial-strength clothing rack in their backroom storage that matched their sketch, would be easy to assemble with their team, and could be modified if any designs changes needed to be made. 

Nate was up for the challenge and knew exactly how to provide the perfect solution to their problem. 

Modular Industrial Clothing Racks 

The sketches that Ralph Lauren’s installation team sent us showcased rows of three-tier clothing racks, along with wall-mounted clothing racks on the perimeter of the storage room.

Now, what kind of material/system is able to meet all of the requirements and design specifications that their team is looking for?

That’s where Kee Klamp came in.

Kee Klamp is a modular pipe and fitting system made from galvanized steel. It’s designed to both industrial-strength and highly configurable, using simple set screws instead of welding. 

That made it the perfect fit for Ralph Lauren’s needs, as it is strong enough to support heavy clothing loads, but adaptable enough to fit the unique layout of the new storage room.

Nate talked through the design with the installation team to ensure that his 3-D designs of the system matched what they were looking for in the system.

Once everything was given the okay, the ordering and shipping of the materials was put in straight away so that the team could get to work installing their new clothing racks. 

Installing Industrial Clothing Racks

As mentioned, Kee Klamp fittings and pipe are a modular system. This means there’s no welding or special tools needed to assemble any parts of the structure.

For this, the installation team needed a hex key, and any attachments they wanted to use to a drill or wrench to make the hex key installation easier.

They also needed a standard drill to properly install the anchors for the wall-mounted clothing racks. For a normal drywall, a standard drill works fine, but if they were installing into concrete or a similar material, they would need a hammer drill to punch through.

The Ralph Lauren install team was able to assemble the clothing racks with ease. And because this new building is still in its early build-out stages, they can move these clothing racks freely around the space or disassemble and reassemble them in a different configuration if needed.

For the contractors, the project was a win. The system was quick to assemble, easy to adjust on-site, and built to last.

And for the Ralph Lauren team, the new system blended form and function in a way that felt seamless.
