Custom ATV/OHV Trailer with Ramp & Gate
This custom trailer, built on a simple platform is made almost entirely of Kee Lite aluminum pipe fittings. The fittings create a wall around the edge of the trailer and a gate/ramp that easily swings down.
The uprights are attached to the trailer deck with L152 Square Flanges. The toeboard is attached with a bracket that is screwed directly to the deck of the trailer.
The uprights use L25 Tees and L26 Two Socket Crosses to connect the pipe railing around the edge of the trailer. The front of the trailer is built out with L20 Side Outlet Elbows.
An LC50 Swivel Socket pipe fitting is what allows the gate to swing down.
The gate is held in place through a cotter pin and bolt. This simple mechanism allows the gate to be easily secured.
The trailer gate swings down making it possible for a vehicle to be driven onto the trailer. A sheet of plywood or several boards can be attached to the pipe to make it easier for the vehicle to roll onto the trailer.
L45 Crossover pipe fittings attach the gate pipes into a grid. 133 Plastic Plugs are used to cap the ends of the pipe to prevent water and other materials from getting into the pipe.
The spare tire was attached with a bolt that was inserted through a drilled hole in the pipe.
This trailer pipe railing and gate was made from Kee Lite aluminum pipe fittings and aluminum pipe. This project shows the versatility of these fittings and what can happen when creativity and pipe fittings come together!
