Advantages of Our ADA Railing

Customizable Handrails

Our pipe and fittings are a modular system. This allows you to customize a handrail specifically for your stairs or ramp.

We can help you design an ADA handrail that is a perfect fit for your unique situation.

Our fittings use a set screw system, meaning there’s also no welding in any of our components. So, if you need to change out a part or change your design, you can easily swap fittings and alter your handrail.

Strength and Durability

All our ADA handrail components are made from galvanized steel and mount to any concrete or wood surfaces.

Kee Klamp steel fittings are rust resistant and are designed to withstand all weather elements. They’re able to maintain their durability through many years of use to ensure they continue to meet ADA standards.

And with our gator tubing or schedule 40 pipe, your handrail will have a smooth and continuous design with industrial strength.

See What Our Customers Have to Say

I am a woodworker and have never done metal work including welding. I needed to build 2 ADA approved Handrails for this ramp. Since I do not do welding I went online for alternate methods. I saw your site and it seemed to be my answer. I was able to build the entire handrail system by myself. It was not complicated and achieved everything I hoped it would. And it looks great. Plus it meets everybody's code.

ADA Railing FAQs

What height should ADA handrail be?

Between 34 and 38 inches. ADA states that the top rail of a handrail must be between 34 and 38 inches above the walking surface. This applies to both stairs and ramps.

Do I need handrails on both sides of a stairway or ramp?

Yes, handrails are required on both sides of a ramp or stairway. If the stairs have two or more risers and the ramp has a rise greater than 6-inches, there needs to be handrails.

What size should my ADA handrail be?

Handrail diameter needs to be 1-1/4 inches to 2 inches. If the handrail is not circular, then the cross-section can’t be greater than 2-1/4 inches and its perimeter needs to be 4 inches to 6-1/4 inches.

Do I need a single or double handrail?

This depends on the project. For example, in an area where children will need use the railing (I.e. a school or park) then a double handrail is required. And wheelchair ramps require a second base railing to comply with ADA code. If you are unsure how this pertains to your project, our team is available to help you answer this question.

Do I need ADA compliant railing for my home?

No, unless you are conducting any business out of your home. Residential railing requirements fall under the International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC).
