Building Large Commercial Greenhouses with Kee Klamp Fittings
If one thing is certain about the future, it's that we will require more food to keep people well fed and healthy. The commercial greenhouse industry is growing and expanding to accommodate the food needs of our communities. One question that appears, is how will these large commercial greenhouse structures be built? For decades, Kee Klamp fittings have been used to build large, structurally sound, greenhouses for commercial use.
One such commercial greenhouse was constructed in Baja, California by RDI. RDI offers a comprehensive design, construction, and real estate services for residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and health projects. This is what they had to say about their commercial greenhouse project:
Earlier this year we were presented the opportunity to build greenhouses for seedlings in Baja California. Our customer needs were: independent Quonset tunnels, no welding of metal structure, harvesting and irrigation and rainwater, and compatibility with different irrigation methods (drip, flood, and automated).
On top of this, plants have other more important needs: lots of sun, lots of water, much drainage, low disease transmission, and above all: homogeneity. During the design phase, our main problem was to meet the requirement that the galvanized steel could not use any welding.
We were lucky to find Kee Klamp fittings from Simplified Building. The Kee Klamps solved all types of joints needed in greenhouses, were very easy to assemble and disassemble, and provided enough structural strength and rust durability.
To test the capabilities of our design, we built a prototype that met all customer expectations. Now we are waiting for the healthy growth of the first seedlings.
The following fittings were the ones that were used by RDI to constructed the greenhouses in this post:
Whether you are building a greenhouse for your backyard or one to house thousands of seedlings, Kee Klamp fittings modularity and durability can help you efficiently build custom structures that will last for decades.
