DIY Counter Height Table with Pipe Legs

DIY Counter Height Table with Pipe Legs

A place to sit in a narrow kitchen can be hard to come by. Standard sized rectangular tables are often too large. Round tables leave unused space in the corner. Building the right table for a kitchen often means doing it yourself. This is what Steven, from Pleasanton, California, did when he decided he needed a sitting table for his kitchen. He wanted a narrow island that would allow him to grab a quick meal while watching TV.

Building your own piece of furniture can be pretty intimidating if you don't know how to work with wood. This is why so many people turn to pipe and fittings to build the bases for tables, desks, shelves, and countless other DIY projects. Working with pipe requires only a few tools and the finished structure will be strong enough for most home and business applications. Working with pipe automatically builds in an industrial aesthetic that is popular today.

Steven built a counter height base for his table out of Kee Klamp pipe fittings and galvanized pipe. The custom pipe base allowed him to set the perfect height for his table. He also included a foot rest that makes the table even more comfortable to sit at.

Steven added a top to the pipe frame by using black stain on a kitchen counter top that he picked up from IKEA.

Our site features dozens of other table frames built with Kee Klamp fittings. Check out the Desk and Table gallery for more project ideas.
