Built-in Dual Height Computer Desk

Built-in Dual Height Computer Desk

More and more people are becoming aware of the dangers of sitting all day. In response, many people are building their own standing desks. Like the solution to most problems, the answer is not always to swing 180 degrees. Sometimes the best solution is to aim for a middle road; in this case: part sitting, part standing. In order to work both sitting and standing you need to either spend thousands of dollars on a desk that will move up and down or you can design a work desk like Steven from Wyoming.

Steven attached a desktop and counter height work surface to the wall and then supported them in the front with Kee Klamp fittings and pipe. This solution is very cost effective because it uses the wall as a major support. He used L61-7 Flanges to attach the pipes to the bottom of the work surface and support the front of the desk and counter height area.

Now when Steven wants to stand, he can simply get up, move the keyboard and mouse, and work away at the counter height surface. Steven's solution shows that you don't have to break the bank to make yourself an ergonomic computer desk.
