Product Description

The Surface 29 Landing kit is a cost-effective stair railing kit that will secure your stairs and landing, and can be installed in a short amount of time with just a few basic tools. This railing features the 29-7 Kee Klamp to connect the sloped handrail directly to the top of the upright, allowing it to be mounted on stairs with any standard stair angle between 30-60 degrees. Because of our unique fittings, the railing kit is safe and secure while remaining highly customizable. The entire railing, including the set screws, is galvanized and designed for greater durability and flexibility than standard railing systems. Whether you need to install a railing on your wood deck or the concrete steps in your front yard, this railing kit will look great and keep you safe.

Unique Features:

  • Custom lengths - Configure for any length between 2-8 linear feet
  • Long-lasting - The entire railing is completely galvanized
  • Easy to install - Only requires a few basic tools and can be installed in about 1 hour
  • Everything you need - Includes mounting hardware for concrete and wood surfaces

Perfect For:

  • Landlords - who need to install long lasting durable railing to meet building code requirements.
  • Home owners - who are looking for a robust railing that meets insurance requirements.
  • Business owners - who need to provide railing for steps around their business.

Select Your Options

  • The basics - The base kit includes three uprights and all the necessary brackets to support the grab rail. End caps and mounting hardware are also included.
  • Choosing the right length - Measure your stair, then seperately measure your landing. Enter the two measurements into their respective fields above to select the length of your railing. In most cases, estimating to the nearest foot works well. For an exact measurement, see the instructions below for how to calculate your railing length. If you would like to talk to a person about this, contact our customer service team.
(Max Railing Length: 8 ft. If you need a longer railing, please contact us directly for a custom railing.)
  • Additional uprights - If you are extending your railing beyond 6 feet between uprights, you will need to add an extra upright to your kit to ensure the railing retains it's rigidity along the entire handrail.
  • Add some color - This galvanized railing kit comes in a metallic silver finish, but can be powder coated for an additional cost. Please note, this will delay your shipment for 3-4 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What tools do I need?

You will receive an allen key with your railing kit that can be used to connect the pipe and fittings. We recommend using a hammer or rubber mallet to secure the malleable plug to the ends of the handrail and a standard drill or a hammer drill if you will be attaching your railing to concrete or brick.

How do I calculate my railing length?

This simple way to do this is to have someone stand at the bottom of the steps holding the end of the measuring tape. Walk to the top of the stairs while each of you hold the measuring tape 3 feet off the ground. Record the length when you have positioned the ends where you want the railing to begin and end. In most cases, estimating to the nearest foot works great. Tip: Longer is better. Your handrail can be cut shorter if needed before install. The mathematical way of calculating would be to measure the rise and run of the steps and then calculate the length of the railing by the following formula: Railing Length = √ height2 + length2. The square root of the height squared plus the length squared will give you the proper length of your railing.

How do I assemble the railing?

This couldn't be easier. You'll receive a basic set of instructions with the railing kit or you can download them now by clicking on the download link at the bottom of this page.

Can I paint the railing?

You sure can! All of our kits can be painted. Many of our customers have used spray paint to add a splash of color to their railing. Depending on the level of use and weather, the paint may need to be touched-up on occasion.
