Ramp Safety Rail and Safety Gate Installation

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Sometimes we have the privilege of visiting the facilities that have utilized some of our our safety products.  Below are some pictures of a safety rail on a ramp and a safety gate.

Ramp Safety Rail

The handrail here is used to protect the side of the ramp.  This rail has a unique feature: the top of the rail bends ninety degrees to protect people from the corner of the loading dock.  This rail reflects some of the unique configurations that can be built using Kee Klamp fittings.

Safety Gate

This safety gate was used to protect the entrance to an open elevator shaft.  There used to be a “fence” the slid up and down to protect the area.  The gate has spring loaded hinges so it will close automatically (not leaving it to the worker to create a safe environment).

Contractor Opportunity: Build ADA Handrails

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

For years welding fabricators have had a monopoly on installing ADA handrails. Our Series 500 ADA fittings make it possible for contractors to now enter the area of handrail construction. Listen to what contractor Andy Pease had to say:

“Now that I’ve worked with the fittings, I could build and significantly improve this same Kee Klamp project in one third of the time. This product gives fence contractors the opportunity to compete with fabricators who can bend and weld on site. Because there hasn’t been much competition, I think it’s a substantial market with good margins, but they can’t send guys like me into a hatchet fight without a hatchet. Either way, I’m going to start knocking on doors to see if I can get the GC’s that use me for fence to call me for handrail quotes as well.”

Our Customer Solutions Providers will help you understand our system and get the proper bill of materials together for constructing these types of jobs.

Here are some pictures from Andy’s job:

ADA & OSHA Handrail Design - Andy Pease

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Below are pictures of an ADA & OSHA compliant handrail built by Andy Pease in Ohio. We worked with him to design an ADA & OSHA compliant handrail for two different entrances to this new building. This is a great example of how our ADA fittings can be used to design an affordable, durable and maintainable ADA compliant solution. Look for more pictures as the project draws toward completion.

Series 500 ADA Railing System

Friday, April 13th, 2007

ADA1

The Series 500 ADA Railing System is a cost effective handrail installation suitable for stairs, ramps or walkways that conform to the railing requirements of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). An ADA railing is a framework of horizontal rails supported by vertical uprights (posts), assembled from fittings and pipe. This type of railing provides a contiguous gripping surface throughout its entire length.

ADA2To help architects, engineers, specifiers, builders, and contractors ensure that all commercial and public buildings satisfy the requirements of the Americans With Disabilities Act and applicable state and local building codes, Kee Industrial Products has introduced a new series of fittings. The new Series 500 ADA Railing System is specifically designed to give a smooth handrail gripping surface using standard 1-1⁄4” schedule 40 pipe. The new railing system incorporates a group of new galvanized fittings and has been designed with versatility and speed of installation in mind. Ideal for use in creating new structures, the system can also be used as a retrofit solution because it includes “Add-On” offset fittings A10-748 and A10-848 which allow a new handrail to be added onto an existing pipe structure.

The modular Series 500 Railing fittings securely join standard sizes of schedule 40 galvanized steel pipe and is flexible enough to accommodate most variations between design drawings and site requirements. The system does not require any drilling, welding or threading, and is easily assembled without specialized workers or equipment. All fittings are galvanized for low long-term maintenance and can be powder coated to your choice of RAL Colors.

The Series 500 ADA Railing System can be easily integrated with fittings from the established Kee Klamp® fitting line to create a complete and cost effective answer to your ADA and Building Code requirements. Kee Industrial Products has a solution for every environment and situation. Especially well suited for accessible ramps and stairwells, the Series 500 ADA Railing System is quality assured and can be used with absolute confidence. Send us your drawings, sketches or layout for a complete detailed proposal.
